Hahn's wry watercolors, inspired by Persian miniatures, Tibetan thanka paintings, Japanese ukiyo-e prints and Chinese guardian figures parody Edo woodblock prints with humorous élan. Her postmodern Ukiyo-e Remix II: Revenge of the Tori presents a neo-Edo print shop furiously turning out prints. The painting casts birds as artists who work assiduously despite a Fat Cat that comes in hissing fire. Juxtaposing historical and contemporary moments, the work reads as a parody of the pompous citizens of historical Edo cum Orange County.
